Dr. Carlos Cruz-Chu is a Board-Certified Pediatric Dentist.  He has always enjoyed working with children and in his last two years of high school, he volunteered at the pediatric hospital (hospital del niño) in Lima-Peru every weekend.  He graduated as a dentist at the Peruvian University Cayetano Heredia and after graduation, became a teaching assistant in the Department of Pediatric Dentistry.

After moving to the United States, Dr. Cruz-Chu completed a one-year Advanced Education Program in General Dentistry and a two years Fellowship certificate at the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine.  Upon completion of the program, he was awarded an appointment as a member of the faculty. During his tenure at the university, Dr. Cruz-Chu continued to practice dentistry as a general dentist at the community health center and gained a wealth of experience working with a diverse population where he provided dental care for both adults and pediatric patients.

Knowing that you always have to improve yourself to give the best quality of care to your patients, Dr. Cruz-Chu decided to do a two-year pediatric dental specialty at the University of Puerto Rico, which is renowned for its strong training in interceptive orthodontics in children and adolescents and in treating severely medically compromised as well as special needs patients.  In addition, Dr. Cruz-Chu also trained in different areas of the hospital including the operating room, emergency room, anesthesia department and dental clinic. After graduation, he established in Virginia and has been practicing as a pediatric dentist in Northern Virginia for many years.

Dr. Cruz-Chu is committed to continuing education and participates in numerous courses and seminars each year.  During his free time Dr. Cruz-Chu enjoys exercising in the gym and swimming, spending quality time with his wife and baby son, doing outdoor activities, visiting new places, going to concerts and trying new foods.  Like many of his pediatric patients, he loves to read comics, discuss about superhero movies and be part of the anime culture. Dr. Cruz-Chu is a pediatric dentist fluent in English and Spanish and knows a little bit of basic sign language.
