SEALANTS

 

The anatomic grooves or pits and fissures on the teeth trap the food debris and promote the development of carious lesions. Placing sealants can prevent carious lesions on those areas. There is also evidence that sealants also can inhibit the progression of non-cavitated carious lesions. It is a very fast procedure, taking only a couple of minutes for each tooth to place the sealant.
