According to the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, Silver diamine fluoride (SDF), has been shown to be efficacious in arresting caries lesions. It helps to stop the progression of dental caries which is very helpful for very uncooperative patients or patients with some specific medical condition that doesn’t allow a regular dental treatment any time soon. The use of SDF usually turn black and harden the carious lesions. Stopping the caries process may take multiple applications of SDF, and reapplication may be necessary to support arrest.
